Theft is to steal something that belongs to someone else. The traditional theft crimes bring within themselves larceny, robbery, and burglary. With a slight difference between all of them, they bring with themselves heavy remorse of losing the property. It is, therefore, essential to punish the culprit and create a society where there is no fear of things being taken away on purpose. 

Handling a theft crime

The law handles theft crimes differently as per the level and type of crime. The different types of theft crimes that a person conducts are:

• Petty theft: Also known as petit theft, these vary as per the value of the thing stolen. When a person lifts in a small amount, a fixed range as per the state law, it comes under petty theft. 
• Grand theft: Grand theft is the stealing of things comprising of large amount, higher than the amount limit of petty theft. It can lead to more severe consequences as per the law. 
• Grand theft auto: It comes under additional types of theft, which includes creating troubles for the owner. It is usually the stealing of cars that are narrow categories and have harsher punishments. 

The theft crime punishments change as per the crime conducted. It varies from minor to severe penalty. Calling a lawyer, if needed, can make everything complicated or damage things, or can make everything smooth and seamless throughout the lifetime. Reporting a theft crime is not just a responsibility as a citizen but is also a contribution that one makes towards creating a better society.
